In a report on Saturday, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Media and Information said that, between February 28 and April 20, a total of 20 people have been killed and 123 wounded in 809 drones and missile attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The KRG Department of Media and Information said that civilian areas in the region, the lives and property of citizens, and private sector infrastructure have been repeatedly targeted by drone and missile attacks under various unfounded pretexts.
Hundreds of citizens have suffered material losses affecting their homes, workplaces, and vehicles.
“Since the outbreak of the war, the KRG has consistently condemned these attacks. The federal government in Baghdad has repeatedly been urged to identify, prosecute, and hold accountable the perpetrators of these terrorist acts and take the necessary measures to bring an end to these unlawful assaults,” the report said.
Out of 809 attacks, 477 targeted the Erbil Governorate, where 10 people have been killed. Three people have been killed in the Sulaymaniyah and Halabja Governorates, and seven in the Soran District. The majority of the attacks were carried out with drones (701), while the rest was carried out with missiles (108).

On Friday, the KRG Department of Foreign Relations also rejected allegations circulated by judicial institutions and official media outlets in the Islamic Republic of Iran that individuals sentenced in Iran had received training from foreign intelligence entities within the territory of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
“The people of the Kurdistan Region have endured decades of conflict, suffering, and sacrifice in pursuit of peace, dignity, and constitutional rights. For this reason, the KRG remains steadfast in its commitment to responsible governance, the protection of its people, and the advancement of constructive and peaceful relations with neighboring countries and international partners alike,” the KRG Department of Foreign Relations said.
Despite the U.S.-Iran ceasefire on April 8, attacks have continued.
“While the ceasefire between the United States and Iran appears to be holding, drone and missile attacks on the Kurdistan Region continue. Drone strikes have been reported in several parts of Kurdistan tonight,” the Kurdistan Democratic Party Department of Foreign Relations said on Friday.
According to a report by Community Peacemaker Teams – Iraqi Kurdistan, on April 24, despite the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, a further 48 attacks were carried out between April 8 and 24.
