As part of his official visit to the UAE, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Friday met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
“I thanked him for UAE’s continued support and its envoy for economic cooperation with the Kurdistan Region. We agreed to further strengthen our ties,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.
They discussed the situation in Iraq following the parliamentary elections, as well as key regional developments, the KRG readout said.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s continued support and assistance, and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s desire to further advance bilateral relations. He also expressed appreciation for the UAE’s appointment of a special envoy in September dedicated to economic cooperation with the Kurdistan Region.
They agreed on the importance of strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE across all sectors.
In addition, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
“We agreed to continue to strengthen the cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE in support of stability, development, and shared interests,” Prime Minister Masrour Barzani posted on X.

Prime Minister Barzani on Thursday arrived in Abu Dhabi on an official visit to the UAE. His visit comes a week after the drone attack by outlawed groups on the Khor Mor gas field, run by the UAE company Dana Gas.On Thursday, KRG Prime Minister Barzani met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
The Kurdistan Region has maintained strong diplomatic and economic ties with the UAE.
