In a meeting with EU representatives on Sunday, Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations, thanked the EU for its continued support of the Kurdistan Region.
“Held a meeting with EU Representative, and Consul Generals from EU member states in the Kurdistan Region. We discussed regional dynamics, and I outlined the KRG’s position, recent engagements abroad and thanked the EU for its continued support for stability and partnership,” Dizayee posted on X.
“Thank you Minister @SafeenDizayee for hosting the EU colleagues yesterday to discuss regional developments and reflect on your recent visit to EU member states, including the Netherlands,” the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Erbil posted on X. “Looking forward to continuing cooperation on security, trade and other topics.”
“Thank you Minister Safeen Dizayee for this moment of discussion with our EU partners, regarding your European tour that began in Paris, and on the economic, security, and political challenges of the current period following the formation of the new federal government,” Yann Braem, France’s Consul General in Erbil, posted on X.
During the meeting, Dizayee also discussed the topics and outcomes of the meetings he held with officials in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, and Austria.
Additionally, he outlined the KRG’s position regarding the repeated drone and missile attacks targeting various areas of the Kurdistan Region since February 28.
He reiterated that “we are not part of the conflicts and disputes in the region, and we seek peace and stability.”
At another point in the meeting, he discussed the formation of the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Region’s participation in it. He stated that the KRG hopes the unresolved issues between Erbil and Baghdad will be settled through dialogue and according to constitutional principles.

Dizayee thanked the diplomats for returning to their duties after a short interruption caused by regional instability. He also reaffirmed the KRG’s continued support for further strengthening relations and facilitating their work and responsibilities in the Kurdistan Region.
