Kurdish Fashion Designer Joins Cannes Film Festival

At the 79th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, internationally recognized designer Lara Dizeyee appeared on the red carpet to promote her own custom designed Kurdish fashion brand.

The Cannes Film Festival is taking place from May 12, 2026 until May 23, 2026.


In an exclusive insight, Dizeyee revealed that she will be wearing a custom creation from her own brand, Sun Rays—a design crafted specifically for the occasion and inspired by light, identity, and the enduring power of cultural expression.


In 2023, Dizeyee was named Kurdistan’s Cultural Ambassador for her remarkable contributions to her field.


Born in Vienna to a Kurdish family in exile and raised in the United States, Dizeyee draws deeply from her cultural roots. 


Her father, Homer Dizeyee, is a renowned poet and singer in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In September 2025 she showcased her Milan Enchanted collection at the Milan Fashion Week in Italy.Dizeyee’s designs, featuring a mix of Kurdish traditional costumes and modern design, were also shown at the Paris Fashion Week 2023.
