On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani thanked all those who supported and helped to protect the Kurdistan Region during the war that began on February 28.
“The attacks on Kurdistan were never justified,” he posted on X. “I hope all attacks on civilians, the Peshmerga, critical infrastructure and diplomatic missions will now end.”
He also underlined that he hopes that the “ceasefire between the United States and Iran will hold, paving the way for lasting stability and peace in the region,” he posted on X.
“The Kurdistan Region is ready to support efforts that preserve de-escalation and build on this momentum toward lasting peace across the region.”
Today, President Masoud Barzani and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani also welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and expressed hope that it would lead to a lasting peace.
Since the regional conflict began on February 28, the total casualties resulting from attacks by Iran and Iranian-backed groups on the Kurdistan Region has risen to at least 17 people killed and dozens injured.
