On Wednesday, Delavar Ajgeiy, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Representative to the EU, told the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Parliament of the Netherlands that the Kurdistan Region has asked Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani to stop the attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
“We have been attacked by more than 250 drones and missiles [since February 28], only in Kurdistan Region, not other parts of Iraq. These drones were primarily launched by the Shi’a militia in Mosul, in Kirkuk, and other places outside the KRG,” he said.

He underlined that they have not only attacked U.S. bases, “but also our Peshmerga forces in many places.”
Ajgeiy said that Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has asked Iraqi Prime Minister al-Sudani to do everything he can to stop these attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
"If they continue to do that, it can have some consequences for them and also for the region, for us. Stability, of course, is the main issue, and the protection of our people.”
The KRG official also underlined that the Kurdistan Region is not part of the conflict between Iran and the United States.
“The Kurdistan Region will not be part of the conflict. For us, the priority will be to protect our people and also to have peace with our neighbors. We will not allow any threat from our territories against any of our neighbors. This is our official position.”
The roundtable discussion in the Dutch House of Representatives focused on the situation in northeast Syria regarding the humanitarian emergency, human rights violations, and escaped ISIS fighters, and was attended by members of Parliament from various Dutch political parties, including the D66, VVD, GroenLinks–PvdA, CDA, and ChristenUnie.
