On Sunday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended his condolences to the family of Welat Tahir, a father of two, who was killed in last night’s drone strikes on Erbil International Airport.
“Sadly, he was martyred as a result of the unjust, oppressive, and terrorist attack targeting the Kurdistan Region.”
“Welat Tahir leaves behind two children. He sacrificed his life for his nation. Remember him,” Aziz Ahmad, Deputy Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.
In a condolence message, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani underlined that “Welat was martyred as a result of an unjust and oppressive terrorist attack on the Kurdistan Region while performing his duty to protect the security of the country.
“I ask God to bless the souls of the martyrs with His mercy and give peace and comfort to their families. I wish the injured a speedy recovery."
Since the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran began on February 28, several attacks have been carried out on U.S. bases in Erbil and Baghdad, as well as on oil facilities in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and members of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties.

Also last night, there were several attacks on Sulaymaniyah, in which one member of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan was killed.
On Saturday, Iraqi parliamentarians from the Kata’ib Hezbollah faction chanted “Death to America” in the Iraqi parliament.
