KRG Appoints First Woman to Lead Internal Security Forces Court

On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed appointed Chra Ahmed Latif as Acting Head of the Internal Security Forces Court, the first woman to hold this senior position.



In a post on X, Minister Ahmed announced that the appointment is part of the KRG Ministry of Interior’s vision to strengthen women’s leadership. “Congratulations to her on this well-deserved recognition, and wishing her continued success.”


Khanzad Ahmad, the Secretary General of the KRG’s High Council of Women’s Affairs, praised the decision.

“A historic step for women’s leadership in Kurdistan. Brigadier Chra Ahmed Latif’s appointment is a powerful message that women belong in decision-making roles across all institutions,” she posted on X.

“We commend this progress and wish her continued success.”

In May 2023, Minister Ahmed also appointed Srwa Rasul as Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Center

“KRG remains committed to empowering women and is proud to see more women in leadership positions,” Ahmed posted on X at the time.
