On Friday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed met with Austria’s Minister of Interior Gerhard Karner to advance bilateral cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Austria.
“Our discussions focused on strengthening joint efforts to combat organized crime, counter illegal migration, and expand comprehensive capacity-building programmes for law enforcement,” Minister Ahmed posted on X.

During the visit, Minister Ahmed also formalized an agreement between the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Interior and the Austria-based International Center for Migration Policy Development, reported Kurdistan 24.The center has been operating in the Kurdistan Region for several years.

Minister Ahmed met Minister Karner earlier during the UK Border Security Summit in London on April 1.
The two officials had “productive discussions on enhancing cross-border cooperation and safeguarding our shared security priorities,” Minister Ahmed said after the April meeting.
