Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Heliopolis Palace in Cairo on Sunday, during which he praised Egypt’s role and President el-Sisi’s efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.
According to the KRG readout, Egyptian President el-Sisi expressed his pleasure at Prime Minister Barzani’s visit and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to further develop bilateral relations.

“Pleased to meet with H.E. President @AlsisiOfficial. We agreed to enhance coordination to protect stability in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.
“We stressed closer ties between the Kurdistan Region and Egypt, particularly in investment and trade.”
According to Egypt’s State Information Service, Egyptian President el-Sisi also voiced support of Iraq’s efforts to face the challenges facing the region, especially terrorism.
Presidential spokesperson Mohamed el-Shennawy said President el-Sisi welcomed Prime Minister Barzani, praising the level of security cooperation between Egyptian and Iraqi institutions, as well as the efforts of Iraq and the KRG to promote stability and peace in the region.
Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Egypt in various sectors, particularly in investment and trade.
President el-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s keenness to deepen all forms of economic cooperation, highlighting the strong capabilities of Egyptian companies, especially in energy and infrastructure, and their experience at home and abroad.
He invited the KRG to benefit from these companies’ ability to deliver projects to high standards at competitive costs.Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the role of Egyptian companies in Iraq, saying he looks forward to working with relevant Egyptian authorities during his visit to explore ways to enhance cooperation and draw on Egyptian expertise in several priority sectors for the KRG.
