The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) announced on X that it has distributed over $1 million to orphans across Kurdistan.
In a special ceremony on October 28, 2025, at the Presidency of the BCF in Erbil, it was announced that 3,609 orphan children across all governorates of the Kurdistan Region, as well as Kirkuk, Afrin, and Mosul, will receive a total of $1,065,400 within the scope of the Kurdistan Project.
In 2025, the total distributed amount reached $82,340,078.
The BCF, which was founded by Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in 2005, has been active in providing humanitarian aid in the Kurdistan Region, other parts of Iraq, and Syria, as well as to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and Palestinians in Gaza.
It has an official working license in the United States and the UK and is a member of the UN’s Economic and Social Council.
Karzan Noori, Board Member and Program Manager of the BCF, told Kurdistan Chronicle on its 20th anniversary in August that the BCF “has served the most vulnerable without distinction – regardless of color, nationality, ethnicity, or background.
“Whether in refugee camps, conflict zones, or disaster-hit communities, we have upheld the principle that all human lives have equal worth,” he added.
