Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday announced that half a million KRG civil servants and pensioners now receive their salaries digitally through banks participating in the MyAccount program.
As part of its mission to shift the Kurdistan Region toward a cashless society, the KRG has been digitizing the payroll process for its 1.2 million public sector employees since September 2023 by helping government workers register with local banks through the MyAccount program.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Barzani added that, to date, more than $3 billion has moved through the participating banks, creating new jobs in the financial services sector and increasing credit availability. Access to credit is vital for growing the economy and funding SMEs and startups.
