Kurdish Driver Finishes Second At GT World Challenge in the Netherlands

Isaac Tutumlu, a Catalan racecar driver of Kurdish heritage, on Sunday, May 18, finished second at the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup in the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands.

“It was a very nice first weekend for us at Kurdistan Racing with McLaren. It was the first time for both me and the team to race with McLaren. We arrived in Zandvoort simply aiming to learn and get up to speed as quickly as possible,” he told Kurdistan Chronicle.

“Of course, you always hope to be able to fight for the top positions, but to finish fourth on Saturday and second on Sunday in such a competitive championship – the World Championship – with so many strong drivers, cars, and action on track, has been amazing.”

Tutumlu returned to the race track this month with a CSA Racing-run McLaren 720S GT3 Evo for the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup. In the previous year, Tutumlu competed in a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2.

The Kurdistan Racing Team, which includes France’s Arthur Rougier, is competing for the title in the Bronze Cup category at the circuits of Zandvoort (May 16-18), Misano (July 18-20), Magny-Cours (August 1-3), and Valencia (September 19-21).

“We’re now third in the championship, very close to second and even first place. We still have six races to go, and we’re really happy to have the speed with the car. We’re very much looking forward to the next races, rounds three and four, which will be in Misano, Italy, on July 19 and 20.”
