On September 12, 2026, the Kurdistan Medical and Scientific Federation (KMSF) hosted its annual Human Horizons Summer Symposium in Manchester, UK, uniting nearly 100 Kurdish doctors, scientists, engineers, and emerging leaders. This year’s theme, “Decoding Health, Tech & Tomorrow,” focused on driving progress and collaboration across the UK’s Kurdish diaspora.

Founded in 1988, KMSF acts as a bridge for Kurdish professionals across medicine, science, engineering, and academia. Event organizer Arazy Jamal Agha highlighted that the symposium serves as a platform for dialogue and mentorship. “We aim to bridge the gap between pioneering research and real-world application,” Agha told Kurdistan Chronicle.

The academic program addressed pressing challenges in public health, oncology, and geriatrics. One of the sessions, titled “The Next-Gen Outlook: Youth at the Core,” connected emerging talent with seasoned mentors.

Demonstrating the event’s broad cross-sector scope, Lavan Ali, Assistant Project Manager at West Midlands Trains, delivered a presentation on project management in the UK railway sector. “It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of the KMSF Summer Symposium 2026,” Ali posted on LinkedIn following the event. “I was given 10 minutes to speak, and even with an extra 7 minutes, it still didn’t feel like enough!”

The symposium not only highlighted the achievements of Kurdish professionals, but also emphasized the importance of unity within the community. “Our strength lies in our collective efforts,” Agha said. “By working together, we can address the challenges facing our community and contribute to the future of healthcare and technology.”
