Vogue is one of the most famous monthly fashion and lifestyle magazines in the world.
On her personal Instagram account, Weng said in a video story that she was getting a large amount of messages. “I’m getting so much love from the Kurdish community,” she said.
She added that she chose to wear the sweater because she always tries to support young German designers and because she likes Kivrim’s work.
Weng also noted that the Kurdish community in Germany is one the biggest diaspora groups in the country, and said that she wore the sweater as a message to the right-wing movement in Germany.
Moreover, she said it was in honor of 22-year-old Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini, who died at the hands of Iran’s morality police in September 2022, which led to large protests in Iran. “It’s to remember her,” she stated.
