On Saturday, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) expressed solidarity with Poland after a 24-year-old gunman killed six people and wounded more than a dozen others during a mass shooting in the historic Main Square of Kraków, Poland.

“We stand in solidarity with the people of Poland following the tragic shooting in the main square in Krakow, and condemn all acts of violence in the strongest terms,” Safeen Dizayee, head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, posted on X.

“I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, wishing a swift recovery to all those injured.”

The attack came a few days before Poland's National Independence Day on November 11, which marks 108 years since Poland regained its independence in 1918.

“In the wake of the tragic events in Kraków, Poland observes a period of national mourning,” Poland’s Consulate General in Erbil posted on X.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and pay tribute to the police and all emergency services.”
