On Saturday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated Sarhaldan Park, a Toyota Hub, and a special road project in Duhok Governorate.

During his two-day visit to Duhok Governorate, Prime Minister Barzani toured several areas, including Swaretuka, Zawita, Sarsing, Amedi, Shekhan, Shariya, and Duhok Dam.
“Our country is beautiful and rich with tourist sites. However, one critical point needs attention: environmental protection,” he underlined.
“Unfortunately, I saw a lot of litter thrown on the streets, which does not fit with our culture. I urge the people of Kurdistan to protect their environment and their homeland. Kurdistan is our great common home, and protecting it is the duty of us all.
“I also call on tourists visiting here to be guided on preserving the air and environment of Kurdistan. Authorities must enforce rules and impose penalties on those who pollute, because it is unacceptable for this sacred land, watered with the blood of our martyrs, to be desecrated.”

Prime Minister Barzani also inaugurated the new Toyota warehouse and pre-inspection center in Duhok.
Prime Minister Barzani described the project as a sign of Japan’s confidence in the Kurdistan Region, as it makes Duhok the central distribution hub for all Japanese cars entering Iraq. “It also creates jobs and helps transfer skills and expertise to our local workforce,” Prime Minister Barzani wrote on X.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Barzani in speech emphasized that this center is not only for importing and distributing vehicles, but also for conducting quality control according to Japanese standards.
“Moreover, some of the car parts will be assembled locally. All of this creates jobs, builds expertise, and helps people in the Kurdistan Region gain higher skills,” he said.
The Sheikhan-Lalish Road finished construction in record time with an investment of $20m.
