Majority of Attacks on Kurdistan Region Intercepted: KDP

On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Foreign Relations Office said that the majority of the attacks on the Kurdistan Region since February 28 were intercepted or failed to reach their targets.



The KDP said that approximately 228 attacks – representing 60.76% of the 474 total drone and missile threats since February 28 – were intercepted, neutralized, or failed to reach their intended targets.


Moreover, the KDP said Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out 179 attacks on the Kurdistan Region, while Iran-affiliated militia groups operating inside Iraq and funded by the Iraqi government launched 295 attacks against the Kurdistan Region.


The KDP said that, of the total attacks, 370 occurred in Erbil, 90 in Sulaymaniyah, 11 in Duhok, and 3 in Halabja.


The KDP also stated that the attacks employed a range of weapons and tactics. Suicide drones were by far the most commonly used, accounting for 359 incidents (75.74%). These were followed by missiles, which were used in 104 incidents (21.94%). Artillery shelling was relatively limited, with 10 incidents (2.11%), while small-arms fire was recorded only once (0.21%).
