Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed on Tuesday met with UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper at the Border Security Summit in London.
“We emphasized the need to strengthen border security and enhance global collaboration to dismantle transnational crime networks. Committed to working together to keep our communities safe,” he posted on X.

The UK Consulate General in Erbil posted that the UK had confirmed £1m in funding to strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s “border security, dismantle transnational crime networks and combat people smuggling.”

Minister Ahmed arrived in the UK last Sunday to participate in the two-day Border Security Summit, joining ministers from 40 other countries, and underlined the KRG’s commitment to confronting human trafficking.
During his London visit, Minister Ahmed also held meetings with Austria’s Minister of Interior Gerhard Karner, France’s Minister of Interior Bruno Retailleau, and UK Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer.
