U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday highlighted how the fugitive ISIS caliph Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rufay’i was killed in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq.
This comes after Iraqi Prime Minister Shia’ al-Sudani made no mention of the key role played by the KRG.

“Today the fugitive leader of ISIS in Iraq was killed. He was relentlessly hunted down by our intrepid warfighters,” President Trump posted on X.
“His miserable life was terminated, along with another member of ISIS, in coordination with the Iraqi Government and the KRG.”

The U.S. Central Command said that al-Rufay'i, the second top-ranking ISIS leader, was killed on March 13 with a precision airstrike in al-Anbar Governorate in Iraq.
