On Thursday, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Interior rejected the rumors and reports published by a number of media outlets alleging the presence of Ukrainian drones, forces, or military units in the territory of the Kurdistan Region.

It emphatically reiterated that these claims are fundamentally false and baseless.

“In this regard, we reaffirm the Kurdistan Region’s principled and unwavering position of pursuing a policy of neutrality, staying out of regional and international conflicts, and rejecting any attempt to use the Region’s territory as a base for any military or hostile activity against any country,” the KRG Interior Ministry said.

“Finally, we reiterate that safeguarding the security and stability of the Region is our top priority, and that under no circumstances will we allow the Kurdistan Region to become involved in or be drawn into these confrontations.”

On Wednesday, Ukraine’s Embassy in Iraq also rejected the allegations made by Iran’s Tasnim Agency, which claimed that Ukraine had deployed thousands of drones from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

“These allegations are entirely unfounded and amount to deliberate disinformation. Ukraine has not deployed any drones, drone units, or related personnel in the Kurdistan Region or anywhere else in Iraq,” the Embassy said.

“Ukraine fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Iraq and deeply values its friendship with the Government of Iraq and the KRG.”

“We call on the media to exercise due diligence and to refrain from amplifying unverified claims.”
