On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received a joint delegation from the U.S.-Kurdistan and U.S.-Syria business councils consisting of representatives of more than 30 U.S. companies.

The companies operate in sectors including defense and security, energy, logistics, transportation, and industry.

At the outset of the meeting, David Tafouri, President of the U.S.-Kurdistan Business Council, expressed the delegation’s pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and outlined the objectives of their visit to the Kurdistan Region and Syria.

Prime Minister Barzani welcomed both business councils and said that the US-Kurdistan relationship remains strong following the end of the Global Coalition mission in Iraq.

On September 30, the U.S.-led Coalition withdrew from the Kurdistan Region.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, expanding trade and commercial cooperation, and encouraging greater U.S. investment in the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani also discussed developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East. He reaffirmed the KRG’s readiness to facilitate investment by domestic and foreign investors and to create the necessary conditions for expanding investment opportunities across different sectors.
