On Thursday, the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) confirmed that two drones had hit a refugee camp in Kawrgosk, in the Khabat District of Erbil Governorate.

The CTD stated that there were no casualties.

The attack targeted Iranian Kurdish party the Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle. This is the second drone attack since the withdrawal of the U.S.-led Coalition on September 30. The last attack targeted the Iranian Kurdish opposition party Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan on September 30 in Koy Sanjaq.

On Sunday, October 4, President Masoud Barzani stated that half of the drones targeting the Kurdistan Region had been launched from Iran, while other drones were coming from inside Iraq, adding that the Kurds should defend themselves. “Neither Americans, Europeans, or other forces will fight for you,” he said.

On September 28, the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs raised concerns over the fact that U.S. forces were withdrawing on September 30 without leaving air defenses for the Kurdistan Region.

It also said that during the war between the United States and Iran, the Kurdistan Region was subjected to more than 1,000 drone and ballistic missile attacks, some of which struck civilian areas.
