Kurdistan Region Seeks to Strengthen Ties With Thailand

On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Jirapon Jirampaikool, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Jordan and Iraq.


The meeting underscored the importance of further strengthening and expanding relations between the Kurdistan Region and Thailand, particularly in trade and hospitality.


They also exchanged views on the situation of citizens of Thailand residing in the Kurdistan Region.



In a X post on Tuesday, Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, said that he had taken part in the opening of the Thai Products Corner at Gullan Mall with Ambassador Jirampaikool. 


“We welcome this initiative and fully support B2B engagement,” he added.


“Kurdistan Region is open for business and investment, welcoming investors from around the world.”


He joined the event after receiving Ambassador Jirampaikool in his office, where the two officials reviewed bilateral relations and explored opportunities to enhance economic cooperation and expand ties in various sectors.
