UK Consul General Commends Progress on Peshmerga Unification

In a meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday, the newly appointed UK Consul General Holly Vare congratulated him on the progress achieved in the unification of the Peshmerga forces.


They also discussed the KRG’s reform agenda and its efforts to advance institutional development across all sectors.


KRG Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Consul General Vare on assuming her new post and wished her success in her duties. He reaffirmed his full support for her mission and underscored the importance of further strengthening the longstanding partnership and close relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UK.


Consul General Vare stated that she was pleased to begin her diplomatic assignment in the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation.


On September 10, KRG Minister of Peshmerga Affairs Shoresh Ismail Abdulla announced that the process of fully unifying and reorganizing the Peshmerga forces under the umbrella of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs was completed.
