On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

“We condemned the recent attacks on the UAE and stressed the need to maintain peace and stability,” KRG Prime Minister Barzani posted on X. 

“We also agreed to further expand on the partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE.”

According to the KRG readout, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Vice President and the Ruler of Dubai, also attended the meeting.

The officials condemned the recent attacks on the UAE and affirmed the need to maintain peace and security in the region.

They agreed on the importance of strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE and expanding cooperation in different sectors.

The Emirates news agency WAM reported that during the meeting, the officials discussed the longstanding ties between the UAE and the Republic of Iraq, particularly the Kurdistan Region, and “ways to further strengthen cooperation for the mutual benefit of their peoples.”

Furthermore, they exchanged views on several issues of mutual interest and underscored the importance of efforts to strengthen security, stability, and lasting peace in the Middle East for the benefit of all peoples of the region.
