On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representative to the United States Treefa Aziz attended the funeral service of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on behalf of the KRG.The funeral was attended by U.S. President Donald Trump and several world leaders.
“Today, I was honored to attend Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral to pay our final respects to a true friend of Kurdistan,” Aziz posted on X.
“His decades of support for the Kurdish people and the U.S.-Kurdistan partnership will be remembered with deep gratitude. May he rest in peace.”
The KRG Representation office in the United States noted in a post on X that, for decades, Senator Graham stood with the Kurdish people and was a steadfast advocate for the partnership between the United States and the Kurdistan Region. “His friendship, leadership, and unwavering commitment were remembered with deep gratitude.”

On July 12, President Masoud Barzani expressed condolences to the family and friends of Senator Graham, who had passed away the day before, underlining that he was a true friend of the Kurdish people.
At the time, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also extended his condolences to Senator Graham’s family and friends.“The people of Kurdistan will always remember his friendship and steadfast support,” Prime Minister Barzani said in a post on X.
