US Special Envoy for Iraq Tom Barrack on Friday underlined on X that the Kurdistan Region continues to play a vital role in advancing stability, peace, and prosperity across Iraq and the wider region.
He posted this after meeting Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, Senior Advisor to KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for Foreign Affairs and Climate Change, in Washington, who is part of the Iraqi delegation led by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.
“Thank you, Ambassador Tom Barrack, always a pleasure to see you and to hear your continued strong support for the Kurdistan Region’s vital role in Iraq and beyond,” Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, posted on X after the meeting.
“Proud to be part of Prime Minister Ali Falih Alzaidy’s important delegation and to work together with our American friends on stability, peace, and prosperity. The US-Kurdistan partnership remains a cornerstone for the region.”
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi arrived in Washington on July 13 and met with US President Donald Trump the next day.
Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi told reporters on Monday that the goal of the visit is to develop balanced foreign relations and sign deals with the US in the fields of oil and gas.
So far, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Zaidi has met with representatives from several US oil giants, including Halliburton, Chevron, and ExxonMobil.

On June 16, U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack, in Erbil met with President Masoud Barzani and expressed appreciation for President Barzani’s role in promoting stability in Iraq and the wider region.
He emphasized that Iraq and the wider region need stability and noted that the Kurdistan Region currently plays, and will continue to play, an important and valuable role in that regard. He also expressed admiration for the Kurdistan Region’s growth and development, describing it as exemplary.
