Qatar Strongly Condemns the Iranian Attack on Kurdistan

On Friday, the Qatari government strongly condemned Iran’s attack on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, calling it a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.



“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the necessity of sparing the region the consequences of unjustified attacks, continuing on the path of dialogue and diplomacy, and de-escalating, in a manner that contributes to consolidating security and stability at both the regional and international levels,” the Qatar Foreign Ministry said. 


“The Ministry renews the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and its support for all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty and security.”


Also on Friday, the UAE condemned the attacks on the Kurdistan Region.


On Friday, the Kurdistan Regional Government called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop attacks on the Kurdistan Region.


According to the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate, on Friday and Wednesday, several drones were intercepted over Erbil, without causing any casualties.


Also on Friday, nine members of Iranian Kurdish opposition party the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan were killed by missiles launched by Iran on the party’s camps in the Zargwez area in Sulaymaniyah. 


On Friday, there were also drone attacks on Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, but no official statement has been released yet by the authorities.
