On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the condolence ceremony for the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar, in Doha, where he was received by Qatar’s current Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
On behalf of the KRG and himself, Prime Minister Barzani extended his heartfelt condolences to the Emir, the al-Thani family, and the people of Qatar. He prayed that Almighty God grant the deceased eternal peace and bestow patience and comfort upon his family, the KRG readout said.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Barzani’s condolences and his attendance of the ceremony.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani was born in January 1952 in Doha and was the ruling Emir of Qatar from 1995 until 2013 when he abdicated the throne, handing power to his fourth son Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. During his reign, Qatar witnessed massive economic, social, and cultural development.
Earlier on Sunday, President Masoud Barzani offered his condolences to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on the passing of the former Emir.
Moreover, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani attended the funeral of the late Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani in Doha on July 13.
