On Monday, President Masoud Barzani received Yousef Makki al-Ghannawi, the Governor of Najaf, along with members of the Najaf Provincial Council.

During the meeting, alongside discussions on Iraq’s political situation, attention was also given to the historic ties between the Kurdistan Region and Najaf Governorate. 

Both sides emphasized the importance of further developing relations between the two sides in the fields of reconstruction, environment, and other sectors.

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also received the delegation led by Governor al-Ghannawi and expressed the KRG’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation and coordination in various sectors between the Kurdistan Region and governorates across Iraq, particularly Najaf.

Governor al-Ghannawi noted that the purpose of the delegation’s visit to Erbil was to advance bilateral relations and benefit from the KRG’s reforms and successful experience in different fields, particularly in the digitalization of public services.
