On Sunday, Kurdish leaders wished a Happy Easter to Christians in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world.
On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, there is an official holiday exclusively for all Christians working at Kurdistan Regional Government institutions.
In a statement, President Masoud Barzani extended his “warmest congratulations and best wishes to our Christian brothers and sisters in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world.
“We hope that this occasion contributes to strengthening the culture of coexistence and brotherhood, and that our Christian brothers and sisters, along with all other religious and ethnic components in Iraq and the region, enjoy security and peace.”
Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underlined that on this “blessed occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to Kurdistan’s historic culture of coexistence and to peace and the protection of all our communities.”
Furthermore, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed “that the Kurdistan Region will continue to be a beacon of coexistence, unity, and mutual acceptance among all religious and ethnic groups.
“Our Christian citizens are a vital part of Kurdistan’s community and have a rich history of collaboration and shared struggle with the people of Kurdistan.”
