On Wednesday, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received a message from U.S. President Donald Trump via a phone call from U.S. Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack.
President Trump strongly condemned the attacks on the Kurdistan Region, including the drone strike targeting President Nechirvan Barzani’s residence in Duhok.
According to the Kurdistan Region Presidency readout, President Trump expressed his sympathy to President Nechirvan Barzani and extended condolences to the families of the six Peshmerga soldiers that were killed in an Iranian missile strike on March 24, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
President Nechirvan Barzani on X said he appreciates “President Trump’s solidarity, his condolences to the families of the martyrs, and continued U.S. support for the security and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”
During the phone call, Ambassador Barrack also reaffirmed the United States’ full support for maintaining security and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
For his part, President Nechirvan Barzani thanked him for the call and reiterated his appreciation for the United States’ stance and support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
