President Erdogan Condemns Attack on Kurdistan Region President's Residence

During a call with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Monday, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Saturday’s drone attack on President Nechirvan Barzani’s residence.



The Turkish Presidency said that the “call addressed the conflicts and the latest developments in the region.”


President Erdogan “conveyed his sympathies to IKRG President Barzani over the attack on his residence.” 


President Erdogan said the Turkish government “is always against such attacks, and that the ongoing conflicts in the region should immediately be stopped.”



In a readout, the Kurdistan Region Presidency said that President Erdogan “conveyed his condolences to President Nechirvan Barzani and the families of the brave Peshmerga who were martyred or injured in the recent attacks on the Kurdistan Region.”


President Erdogan reaffirmed that the Turkish government “places significant value on peace and stability in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and will support security and stability in the region.”


President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude to President Erdogan for reaching out and for the Turkish government’s friendly stance toward the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, emphasizing that the Kurdistan Region will always be an upholder of peace and will not be a part of war or conflict.
