The UAE and the Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East offered condolences to the Kurdistan Region after Tuesday’s Iranian missile attack that killed six Peshmerga fighters and injured 30.
In a statement on Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that these attacks represent a dangerous escalation and a violation of the principles of international law.
The MoFA reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), as well as its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding security, ensuring the safety of its citizens, and preserving stability.
The MoFA expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs, as well as to the government and people of Iraq and the KRG over this heinous attack, and wished a speedy recovery to all those injured.
Furthermore, His Holiness Mar Awa III, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, offered his “sincere condolences and prayers to Almighty God for the family members of the bereaved martyred fighters and pray for the speedy recovery of those who were wounded in the attacks.
“We further offer our condolences to the Government of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, beseeching God to protect all its citizens and peoples in safety and security. We pray that all types of aggression against the innocent and civilians cease immediately and ask that respect for the lives of fellow citizens of one and the same country may prevail over violence and animosity.”

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MoPA) confirmed that six Peshmerga had been killed and 30 Peshmerga wounded in an Iranian ballistic missile attack on the Kurdistan Region, and condemned the attack.
“We reaffirm that we possess every right to repel any aggression committed against our people and our land,” the MoPA said.
