KRG PM, Jordan’s King Discuss Attacks on Erbil, Amman

On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani spoke on the phone with Jordan’s King Abdullah II about security challenges and attacks on the Kurdistan Region and Jordan.

During the call, they also discussed the impact of the economic crisis on Iraq and the wider region.

In that regard, Prime Minister Barzani stated that the KRG will allow Iraqi oil exports through the Kurdistan Region’s Iraq-Turkey Pipeline (ITP) to Ceyhan port in Turkey as a step to help ease Iraq’s economic burden.

“We discussed KRG’s decision to allow oil exports through its pipeline to help ease recent economic hardships on Iraq,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.

“We reaffirmed the strong relationship between our nations.”

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Barzani confirmed that the KRG had decided to allow Iraqi oil to flow through the ITP after a request from Baghdad earlier this week.

“Given the extraordinary circumstances facing the country, and the responsibility we all share to get through this difficult chapter, we have decided to allow oil to flow through the Kurdistan Region’s pipeline as soon as possible,” he posted on X.
