France’s President Macron Calls Attack on French Army Unacceptable

On Friday, France’s President Emmanuel Macron condemned last night’s attack on French forces in the Kurdistan Region that killed one soldier.

According to the French government, several French soldiers were injured.

“This attack on our forces, engaged in the fight against ISIS since 2015, is unacceptable,” President Macron posted on X.

“Their presence in Iraq is strictly part of the fight against terrorism. The war in Iran cannot justify such attacks.

“Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion of the 7th Alpine Chasseurs Battalion from Varces has died for France during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq.

“To his family and his fellow soldiers, I want to express the Nation’s full affection and solidarity.”
