Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday received a delegation from Amed Sports Club (Amedspor), led by club president Nahit Eren.
Amedspor is based in Diyarbakir, a city in southeastern Turkey that is widely regarded as the informal capital of the country’s Kurdish minority and is also known by its Kurdish name, Amed.According to the KRG readout, the delegation briefed Prime Minister Barzani on the club and its activities, highlighting that Amedspor is among Turkey’s leading sports clubs. The team also praised Prime Minister Barzani for his support for sports and athletes in the Kurdistan Region, as well as for his broader efforts to develop the region across various sectors.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the important role of sport and athletes in conveying and promoting messages of peace and coexistence among peoples. He congratulated the club and wished it continued success and further progress, reaffirming his support for the sports movement and athletes.
Prime Minister Barzani has been very supportive of the football teams in the Kurdistan Region and has personally attended several matches to show his encouragement and solidarity with local teams and their communities.
