The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representation to the United States hosted their annual Holiday Reception in Washington, D.C., bringing together partners from the U.S. government, Congress, think tanks, and the local Kurdish community to reflect on a year of meaningful progress and enduring partnerships.

In her speech at the event, KRG Representative in the United States Treefa Aziz shed light on the history of the relationship between Washington and Erbil. “As we closed out 2025, we reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Kurdistan relationship, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and a common commitment to stability, security, and prosperity,” she stated.

Aziz also emphasized the importance of the recent opening of the world’s largest U.S. consulate in Erbil, describing it as “a powerful symbol of confidence in the Kurdistan Region and the future of our partnership.”

The event, as KRG Representation noted in a LinkedIn post, provided an opportunity to showcase major achievements under the KRG’s Ninth Cabinet, including advancements in electricity access, job opportunities, banking and public service reform, infrastructure, education, and innovation.

“We are deeply grateful to our colleagues from the U.S. government, Congress, the policy and business communities, the Embassy of Iraq, and our community,” Aziz added.

Looking forward to 2026, the KRG Representative in the United States is committed to strengthening U.S.-Kurdistan ties and advancing a more prosperous future for the Kurdistan Region.
