Dutch-Kurdish Artist Naaz Releases New Single
November 22, 2025

Dutch-Kurdish singer, producer, and writer Naaz has released her latest single, “Bark,” which explores intuition, self-trust, and the desire to break free from societal expectations.

Naaz describes “Bark” as a reflection on envying her dog’s instinctive ability to sense danger without hesitation. “Sometimes I wish I could do the same, to bark instead of overthink,” she says. Blending folky indie pop and rock with melancholic guitars and bursts of tape-recorded grand piano, the track carries an organic, untamed energy that mirrors its theme.

Born to a Kurdish refugee family in the Netherlands, Naaz began writing songs as a child, later tattooing many of them on her body as symbols of freedom. Her father, a doctor from Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region, and her mother, a Kurd from Eastern Kurdistan (northwestern Iran), were initially hesitant about her ambitions to pursue a career in music.

After graduating from high school, Naaz devoted herself entirely to art.

A self-taught writer, producer, and composer, she released her debut project Bits of Naaz from her bedroom before embarking on four European tours. Her innovative blend of English and Kurdish music has earned praise from artists including Elton John and Lana Del Rey.

After stepping away from the music industry in 2020, Naaz made a comeback three years later with her critically acclaimed debut album Never Have I Ever, a project she has described as both an artistic and personal rebirth. Her Kurdish alt-pop single Azadi became an anthem for women’s rights across the Middle East, solidifying her position as an outspoken and influential voice in contemporary music.

She also recently signed a book deal for her first novel. In 2025, she released the self-produced EP Read Me, further establishing her signature sound ahead of her sophomore album, scheduled for release in 2026 under Believe Music.

Naaz is set to announce new live dates soon, with planned performances in the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, the UK, and France.
