On Sunday, Kurdish President Masoud Barzani and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held separate meetings welcoming 110 young people from various parts of the Kurdish diaspora, including 12 youths from European countries, and urged them to strengthen their ties with Europe.

During the meeting, President Barzani emphasized the importance of gathering Kurdish diaspora youth under a national umbrella to preserve their culture, language, and national identity, and to support research into Kurdish heritage.

He stressed that Kurdish youth abroad should maintain a strong presence in European institutions, engage in education and self-development, serve as a bridge between the diaspora and the homeland, and create strong influence in diplomatic, political, and cultural fields on behalf of Kurdistan.

Furthermore, President Barzani also discussed the situation in other parts of Kurdistan and highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s support for peaceful solutions regarding Kurdish heritage in those areas.

On the same day, KRG Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the same Kurdish diaspora delegation and highlighted the important role of Kurdish youth abroad in raising awareness of Kurdish issues and supporting the rights of the Kurdish people.

The Kurdistani diaspora living in Europe can play a significant role in raising awareness about Kurdistan and advocate for the rights of the Kurdistani people,” Prime Barzani posted on X.

“I hope they preserve their culture and national identity and serve as a bridge of reconnection with their homeland.”

Furthermore, he encouraged them to be exemplary and successful members of their communities, making the most of opportunities abroad to develop themselves and advance their skills.

Prime Minister Barzani also emphasized the ongoing reforms of the KRG across all sectors aimed at building a strong economic foundation in the region.
