The Chevening Scholarship is a highly competitive and esteemed global program funded by the UK government that provides full scholarships for individuals from around the world to pursue a one-year master’s degree in the UK. The scholarship seeks to support future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.
In addition to covering tuition, the scholarship includes a monthly stipend, travel cost coverage, and various other allowances, making it a valuable opportunity for professionals looking to further their education and contribute to positive change in their home countries.
Iraqi and Kurdish students have significantly benefited from the program, receiving enhanced education and leadership experience abroad so that they could return to their home country and participate in local development. Chevening alumni are active across various levels of government, civil society, and academia, as well as the private sector.
The Chevening Scholarship program also facilitates cultural links and closer relations between the UK, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. A two-year return condition mandates that graduates use their skills back home, in turn amplifying the program’s long-term impact.
For Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the Chevening Scholarship is a mechanism through which future leaders can learn the skills needed to play a role in influencing the direction of reform, innovation, and global engagement.
