Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in Washington, D.C., on Saturday for an official visit, in which he is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with senior officials from the Trump administration and the U.S. Congress.

In a press statement the KRG added that Prime Minister Barzani will engage with U.S. investors, prominent figures in the private sector, and advocates for international religious freedom.
“The discussions will focus on strengthening and expanding the strategic partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. Key topics will include bilateral cooperation, investment, recent political and security developments in Iraq, and broader regional dynamics in the Middle East,” the KRG stated.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Barzani will participate in a special session at an energy forum in Washington titled “The Future of Energy and Power in the Kurdistan Region,” where he will outline the Kurdistan Region’s vision for energy development and highlight opportunities for U.S. companies in this vital sector.
Prime Minister Barzani has established strong ties with the Trump administration and has received several calls from senior U.S. officials over the past few months.
In a phone call on April 12, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the importance of strengthening the friendship and alliance between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.
During the Middle East Peace and Security Forum in November, Prime Minister Barzani confirmed that the KRG has friends in the Trump administration.
