On Monday, February 10, 2025, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in the UAE to participate in the World Government Summit 2025 (WGS25), taking place in Dubai from February 11 to 13.
“At #WGS25, I shared our vision for Kurdistan’s path forward: reform, development, and a government that knows its role, not as a barrier, but as a regulator and facilitator of growth and opportunity,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.

“We are in a transitional period in building a digital economy,” Prime Minister Barzani said at the WGS25.
He added that the KRG government wants to make it easier for citizens and businesses to engage the government and the private sector. “The government should be a regulator or facilitator. That’s my goal.”
Prime Minister Barzani also said that the UAE was a “model to look up to” in terms of implementing reforms. “You have to learn from the success stories of the countries that have gone through this path.”

Accompanying Prime Minister Barzani is a high-level KRG delegation including Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Minister of Municipalities and Tourism Sasan Awni, President of the Diwan of the Council of Ministers Umed Sabah Othman, and KRG Cabinet Secretary Amanj Raheem.
During the summit, Prime Minister Barzani will hold high-level meetings with world leaders and senior officials focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and participating countries, and exploring new opportunities for cooperation in trade.
