On Wednesday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani concluded a second day of high-level meetings with global leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
KRG Prime Minister Barzani had meetings with leaders from several countries including Iran, Jordan, and the Netherlands, as well as the UN. Today he is expected to meet Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Asaad Hassan al-Shaybani and discuss the future of Syrian Kurds.

KRG Prime Minister Barzani posted on X that he had a timely meeting with Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN.
“We discussed key challenges facing Iraq and the region, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional rights to ensure stability and progress.”
KRG Prime Minister Barzani also met with Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, where he “reaffirmed the enduring friendship between our peoples.”

Furthermore, KRG Prime Minister Barzani stated on X that he had a productive discussion with the Netherlands’ Prime Minister Dick Schoof.

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Erbil also posted on X that during the “positive meetings” the leaders “discussed regional developments, as well as the strong cooperation between the Netherlands and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in areas such as trade, agriculture and security.”
Prime Minister Barzani additionally met with Iran’s Vice President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.
“We discussed bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, resolving our disputes with Baghdad, and ensuring stability across the region,” he posted on X.

On Monday, January 20, Prime Minister Barzani arrived in Switzerland to participate in the WEF 2025 Annual Meeting, held in Davos-Klosters from January 20-24, where he inaugurated the Kurdistan House in Davos.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Barzani had meetings with leaders from several countries including Qatar, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Belgium.
