In separate messages on the occasion of the United Arab Emirates’ National Day, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani underscored the strong relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE.

“The Kurdistan Region and the United Arab Emirates are bound by shared values and a common outlook for the future,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.
He also extended his best wishes to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, “for continued prosperity, peace, and good health.”

In a separate statement on X, President Barzani extended his “warmest congratulations to the sisterly United Arab Emirates, its leadership and people, on the occasion of the National Union Day.”

“We highly value the fraternal and historical ties that unite us, and we express our sincere wishes for further progress and prosperity for the UAE under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”
The UAE National Day, also known as Union Day, marks the unification of the seven emirates in 1971.
Over the years, the Kurdistan Region and the UAE have developed a close partnership in fields like government services, construction, education, and digital transformation.

At the World Government Summit 2023 in Dubai, Prime Minister Barzani discussed expanding partnerships in trade, investment, and governance with the UAE.
In the last few years, the Kurdistan Region has also exported its first major non-oil products to
the UAE, including pomegranates and potatoes.
