U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters on October 21 that the United States is strongly urging political parties in the Kurdistan Region “to engage in a prompt and sustained dialogue to swiftly form a stable and representative government without delay.”

“We call on Kurdish leaders to find a way to move past their differences and form a government. Our view is that there is more that unites Iraqi Kurdistan leaders than divides them, and it is in the interest of the people to move forward in an inclusive process and form a government as soon as possible.”

The Embassy of Canada to Iraq in Erbil extended congratulations to the people of the Kurdistan Region and the Independent High Electoral Commission on October 22 for holding successful parliamentary elections.

“Staff from the Canadian Mission Iraq had the opportunity to observe the electoral process and now look forward to the formation of a new government,” the office said in a post on X.

The UK’s Consulate General in Erbil on October 21 also said that the “high turnout is a strong message in support of the renewal of democratic legitimacy. We look forward to the resumption of the regional parliament and to the formation of a regional government as soon as possible.”
