Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday met Egypt’s newly appointed Consul General in Kurdistan Mahmoud Farouk Youssef Amer and congratulated on his new tenure.
Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the KRG’s full support for the Egyptian Consulate in order to further develop bilateral relations in various fields.

According to a readout from the Prime Minister’s office, Consul General Amer expressed his happiness in taking up the post in the Kurdistan Region and emphasized his country’s readiness to strengthen and advance relations with the KRG, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, healthcare, education, and tourism.
The two officials also discussed preparations for the upcoming Kurdistan Parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20 and stressed the importance of conducting the process free from interference, fraud, or manipulation.
In 2010, Egypt became the first Arab country to open a consulate in the Kurdistan Region.
