In a meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on September 9, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Iraq Nasir Mammadov discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including establishing Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Erbil and resuming direct flights between Baku and Erbil.

Moreover, Ambassador Mammadov conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and extended an invitation to Prime Minister Barzani to attend the upcoming COP29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, which is scheduled to take place from November 11-24, 2024.
On July 22, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Barzani had received an invitation to attend the upcoming COP29 in Baku from President Aliyev.
