Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on July 31 met with Iran's newly inaugurated President Masoud Pezeshkian.
“I look forward to working together to advance the relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Iran,” the Kurdish President posted on X.

According to the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Iran's President Pezeshkian thanked the Kurdish counterpart and his delegation for attending the swearing-in ceremony. He emphasized Iran’s desire to expand relations and cooperation with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in all fields.
For his part, President of the Kurdistan Region thanked them for the invitation and emphasized that the Kurdistan Region views Iran as a key neighbor, working to enhance relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Iran.
Moreover, Barzani met with Iranian Islamic Council Speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf in Tehran on July 31.
The meeting discussed Iran’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the internal situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and the region in general and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
The two sides stressed the importance of promoting relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all fields and considered joint cooperation in the region necessary to maintain stability and peace.

The Kurdistan Region President arrived in Tehran on July 30 to participate in the inauguration of President Pezeshkian.
